Confession. I hate coffee. I know to many of you, this is akin to heresy. I do love the smell of a freshly brewed cup, but cannot abide the taste. That said, I do have this small obsession with coffee/tea pots and cups. So that’s what inspired me to come up with a little home decor piece to give to a friend.

coffee-final

I started by inking my background with Broken China Distress Oxide ink. After heat setting it with my heat gun, I used the same ink to stamp my background pattern for a tone-on-tone look.

For my “table,” I used Antique Linen, Tea Dye and Vintage Photo Distress Oxide ink blended together. I then used the Lace stamp from the Tim Holtz Ornate and Lace stamp set to give the table a bit of a pattern. I taped this to my background.

Next I die cut my coffee cup using the Cottage Cutz Small Teacup die. I inked both the cup and saucer with Bundled Sage Distress Oxide, then used an old gift card to scrape a bit of white gesso on top, to give it a more distressed/aged look. For the flower decoration, I used my WOW! Embossing Pen to first apply Taffeta Pink embossing powder to the flower, then Metalline Greengage to the leaves. I adhered the cup onto my “table” using foam tape for a more dimensional look.

For the “steam,” I used one of the Dot Flourish stamps by Inkadinkado and heat embossed it onto my background using WOW!’s White Puff Powder.

Finally, for my sentiment, I used a stamp from my stash and heat embossed it using Chocolate Caramel Pearl onto a piece of white card stock. I trimmed it down, distressed the edges and inked the edges with Tea Dye Distress Ink. I popped it onto the piece with another piece of foam tape.

This is a 4×6 piece that fits beautifully in a matted 5×7 frame, perfect to gift to special, coffee-loving friend!

Hop on over to see all the creations made by some wonderful crafters!
