Can you believe how fast 2018 has flown by? Today, I have two more art journal layouts done for my Julie Nutting art journal: September and October.
I was at a bit of a loss for September at first. My initial thought was to do a fall theme, but since summer stayed so long, I just wasn’t in the autumn mood. The month passed quickly and before I knew it, it was almost over! I started digging around in my stash for ideas and came upon some papers from Graphic 45’s Imagine collection. That’s when it hit me — Steampunk September!
I found another sheet of scrapbook paper in coordinating colors to use as the background. I then set about fussy cutting pieces of the Graphic 45 paper to use in an aerial layout. For my steampunk lady, I decided to use the Julie Nutting Twinkle doll. She’s meant to be a Christmas doll, but she can be very versatile for other themes! I paper pieced her outfit together using the Kaisercraft Factory 42 collection. Her wings are a stamp from my stash that I fussy cut and added Nuvo crystal glaze to the top. Finally, I added a few small gears and bobs to her outfit to complete my doll. I finished the layout with two quote stickers from the Tim Holtz Small Talk collection.
For October, obviously, it was going to be an homage to my favorite holiday — Halloween! For my little witch, I used the Julie Nutting Lil Witch stamp and die set. Her outfit was paper pieced using various Halloween papers from my stash. I colored her green, like any self-respecting witch should be.
For the background, I used a piece of scrapbook paper from Reminisce for a haunted forest feel. I dug into my vast collection of Halloween stickers to decorate my scene with. I’d been wanting to use that house sticker for a long time!
To finish off my layout, I used the Tim Holtz Halloween remnant rubs to add some spooky sentiments and spiders to the page.
Thanks for stopping by. I’m already busy planning my layouts for November and December!
